Today I had the joy of witnessing God’s love manifest itself in and through a group of strangers. I took my advanced film production class from LTHS to downtown Austin and we filmed several events for United Way and the “Day of Caring” which brings people from all over the city to do various jobs for local non-profits. We may not always know it when we see it, or be able to express it, or even recognize that it exists…however, the reality of God’s love for people and His creation is what it is. And, some days we realize we are witness, participant, and part of the story as it unfolds. I’ve been struggling with church and what it is and what it is not, and the struggle is far from over. But, I do better realize that I am part of the story and it may not always happen on Sunday morning. It may happen during a tailgate party for the Longhorns, or it may happen in a classroom full of teens, or it may happen on a Friday morning in downtown Austin. I’ll close with the following quote… “There is still a part of me that would love to embrace the cocoon of a church-centered life once again, but dang it, I think it might even be God who messed up this cozy part of my life. And He seems to be the one who keeps pushing me towards being the church in a different way.”  –gracefrom her blog at http://emerginggrace.blogspot.com/2007/09/building-attendance-church.html
