We’ve been watching the Olympics together as a family, starting with the Opening Ceremonies. It’s been a great chance to talk about other cultures, politics, peace, and even death. It’s also fun to explain what USA means, and to see people like Michael Phelps as representatives of us as a people. I hope that you see the goodness, the purity of sport, that you don’t let the realities of professional athletes, money, commercialism, etc get in the way of enjoying the feats of (most) of the athletes and their families as they pursue their dreams.
